MAYOR: YORKSHIRE DAY IS OUR CHANCE TO CELEBRATE GOD’S OWN COUNTY

South Yorkshire Mayor and Barnsley Central MP is celebrating everything that makes Yorkshire the best place in the world to live, work, visit and call home this Yorkshire Day.

Commenting, Dan Jarvis said:

“From outstanding natural scenery to stunning coastlines and seaside towns; proud former pit villages to cutting-edge international cities – Yorkshire boasts an incredible and wonderfully diverse range of places to visit and enjoy!

“We’ve got a world-leading and internationally acclaimed arts and cultural offer and – from the ‘Yorkshire Wall’ of Maguire, Walker and Stones; Barnsley’s own Lioness Bethany England; and our region’s Olympians mopping up the medals in Tokyo – we’re still going for glory in the sporting arena.

“Today is also a chance to ensure that Yorkshire’s voice is heard on the national political stage and – in partnership with Tracy Brabin in West Yorkshire – we have never been in a stronger position to make this happen and to fight for every penny in investment our communities need and deserve.

“However you are celebrating this Yorkshire Day, I hope that you will take this opportunity to champion everything that truly makes Yorkshire God’s Own County.”
