This scheme is improving public transport connectivity along the Abbeydale Road and Ecclesall Road corridors in south west Sheffield. The first phase has completed bus priority works at and near the Rustlings Road and Ecclesall Road junction.  Works to Abbeydale Road at the junction with Abbey Lane to detect and prioritise buses through the junction to make journeys more reliable then followed alongside the addition new lining to improve traffic flow between Sherwood Glen and Abbey Lane.

Each set of traffic lights along Abbeydale Road and Ecclesall Road will detect buses on their approach and reduce the amount of time they have to wait. The project will help to provide more reliable and consistent bus services.  There will also be enhanced enforecement of illegal parking and loading in bus lanes by using cameras in key locations along Ecclesall Road and Abbeydale Road / London Road. The first six cameras were installed along the routes in 2025, with final works due to complete late summer 2026.
