A new Active Travel Footbridge was opened in May 2023, connecting two community areas, providing a safer walking route to school and an active travel link for residents. Previously the two green spaces were separated by the Barnsley Huddersfield train line. The project enhances the A628 Dodworth Road / Broadway Junction Improvement scheme facilitating employment and housing opportunities identified in the Local Plan.
