Loca Authority: SCC

Funding Programme: TCF / CRSTS

SYMCA Funding: £12,461,133 / Total Project Value: £12,461,133

Implementation Stage: In Delivery

This scheme is being delivered in two phases. Phase 1 is currently moving into delivery, and focuses on Charter Row, Moore Street and Young Street. It will connect major new residential and employment developments so people can access jobs, homes, education and training opportunities more easily. The scheme will bring the public realm up to the same standard as the heart of the city, including planting and landscaping, making the street more attractive, including sustainable drainage and improvements to make walking and wheeling easier.

The addition of a new signal-controlled pedestrian and cycle crossings at Fitzwilliam Gate will make it safer to cross this busy junction. A separate two-way cycle route on the Atkinsons side of the road, and a separate one-way cycle route on the other side of the road. These will connect into existing routes at Charter Square, and at Moore Street to make cycling into and around the city centre easier and safer for everyone.
