ADVANCED FOOD INNOVATION CENTRE (AFIC)

The  Advanced Food Innovation Centre's (AFIC) is a £10.6m new build Research & Development Facility that integrates innovation in food processing, packaging, handling, storage and distribution equipment with techniques in food engineering and automation, ensuring the UK's Food manufacturing sector continues to be globally competitive and the largest manufacturing employer in the UK.  

The increased use of engineering, advanced manufacturing and innovative technologies in the Food and drink sector creates significant new opportunities for food companies in the city region.

This project, which has completed, includes a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.

This investment is planning to deliver 49 jobs.

Total project cost: £11,130,055
