Connecting Sheffield: Darnall-Attercliffe-City Centre has been designed to transform access between these growing employment, leisure and housing opportunities in Darnall, Attercliffe and the Lower Don Valley into the City Centre and to Meadowhall, which will make the area more attractive to live, work and invest in. The project is currently on site and is delivering:
New and improved crossing points for pedestrians and cyclists along the route to make it safer and easier for cyclists and pedestrians to cross.
Public realm enhancements on Attercliffe High Street, helping to deliver a vibrant and attractive high street and generate a positive image and gateway into and for the city. This will also involve introducing new planting where possible.
Bus priority improvements to improve reliability and journey times for buses.
Segregated cycle routes linking Darnall and Attercliffe to the city centre.
The first red route in Sheffield to help ensure the improved cycling, walking and wheeling infrastructure is always available for use and keep traffic moving. The red route covers:
Attercliffe Road and Attercliffe Common – between the junctions with Effingham Road and Janson Street.
Worksop Road – between the junctions with Attercliffe Road and Leeds Road. new and improved crossing points, improvements to public space and bus priority measures
