PARKWOOD SKI VILLAGE

Following several years of neglect, arson and vandalism, Sheffield Ski Village site is now in extremely poor condition, over-run by redundant remains from the former facility, wildly overgrown vegetation as well as out-dated site infrastructure.  It is now in need of significant cleaning and reclamation, servicing and preparation to make it suitable for re-use.  

A report commissioned by Sheffield City Council and produced by Colliers International in June 2015  identified opportunities for a high quality, value for money new-era outdoor artificial ski slope, with complementary activities such as high quality dedicated mountain biking tracks.  

Sheffield has a national reputation for climbing, walking, kayaking, mountain biking which embraces the Peak National Park on its western fringe.  However Parkwood Springs offers the opportunity to create top class skiing, biking and other extreme sports facilities, including the UK’s first luge, right in the city centre within easy reach of some of Sheffield’s fastest-growing and most popular new residential and leisure areas at Kelham-Neepsend.   

This project, which is currently in delivery, includes a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
