AMRC LIGHTWEIGHTING CENTRE PHASE 1

This investment helps maintain the world-class capabilities of the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and can serve as an attractant for inward investors such as McLaren Automotive and Boeing.
This investment supports the establishment world class composite and light weight structure research facilities as part of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). The project provides the AMRC with leading edge capacity in this area of growing importance to the aerospace and automotive sectors. The first phase puts in place a hydraulic press facility adjacent to the Factory 2050 location and provide equipment on which to undertake industrial research with commercial clients, including McLaren Automotive.
This project, which has completed, included a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
This investment is expected to deliver 339 jobs.
