OPEN, TRANSPARENT AND INTERACTIVE - THE DATA & INTELLIGENCE HUB LAUNCHES WITH A HOPE FOR PROVIDING A PLATFORM THAT WILL HELP INFORM AND IMPROVE LIVES ACROSS SOUTH YORKSHIRE
Published 12 July 2022 at 10:17am
The newly launched virtual ‘Data & Intelligence Hub’ will enable residents, businesses and organisations to easily access data about South Yorkshire’s social, economic and environmental performance.
The platform brings over 130 open-source datasets into one place. The live datasets are set across 8 key themes outlined in SYMCA’s Strategic Economic Plan (2020) as key indicators of success and provide an insight into how South Yorkshire is performing across those domains. These include:
- Health & Wellbeing
- Business & Innovation
- Education, skills and employment
- Transport and mobility
- Clean energy, net zero and environment
- Land, housing, digital & infrastructure
- Inclusion
- Culture & Visitor Economy
The wider vision of this initiative is to become a central point for intelligence and insight in South Yorkshire, complementing it with deeper analysis, mapping and further data insights. The aspiration is that this can improve decision making at all levels.
What does this mean for businesses, people and places in South Yorkshire?
Enhanced transparency and increased access to data and information for a wide range of purposes all in one place. An open, transparent and integrated approach to data.
Who could utilise the data?
Anyone! The new Data & Intelligence Hub has been developed to meet the need of verified, unified, and trustworthy data across the region of South Yorkshire.
The dashboards could be used by a variety of stakeholders, including the MCA and anchor partners, civil servants, peer LEPs and combined authorities, policy makers, academia, other public sector organisations, residents, businesses and investors, and many more.
South Yorkshire’s Mayor, Oliver Coppard
In my manifesto, I said that transparency, accountability, equality, and accessibility will characterise everything I do as South Yorkshire’s Mayor. An important part of staying true to that promise is giving people in our communities, our businesses, and academics access to live data on the social, economic, and environmental landscape of our region.
I am proud to launch the South Yorkshire Data & Intelligence Hub, which I hope will show people why the work of the MCA is integral to improving the lives of people in South Yorkshire and levelling up our places.
