STATEMENT ON MCA NAME AND BRAND CHANGE

Published 10 June 2021 at 12:42pm

On Monday 7 June 2021, the MCA Board agreed to rebrand (PDF) to rebrand and change the legal name of the organisation to the ‘South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority’. The Mayor’s title will change to become ‘Mayor of South Yorkshire’.

The change is being made to reflect the decision-making geography of the MCA and LEP and to better reflect the identification people, places and businesses have with South Yorkshire as a region. It also coincides with the integration (PDF) of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) with the MCA.

There will be no immediate change to the MCA and SYPTE’s brand. The new identity will be applied and rolled out in phases, with some of the first changes made by the end of July ahead of the next MCA Board meeting.

The wider suite of MCA brands, such as the Growth Hub, Skills Bank and SCR Invest will also remain unchanged until a wider review of sub brands has taken place.
