South Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Kilvinder Vigurs, will chair the next meeting of the Public Scrutiny Board, taking place on Wednesday 11 March at 2pm at the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) offices in Sheffield.

The Public Scrutiny Board provides an open forum where senior officers from South Yorkshire Police present progress updates, respond to questions and take part in transparent discussions on issues that matter to communities across the county.

This upcoming meeting will focus on four key areas:
  • Police performance, reviewing progress against the Police and Crime Plan and examining trends, improvements and challenges.
  • Responding to the public, including call handling, online contact, and the effectiveness of public-facing services.
  • Supporting victims, ensuring victims receive timely, high‑quality support and that the force continues to improve victim satisfaction and compliance with the Victims’ Code.
  • Serious and organised crime, exploring the force’s strategy, local threat picture and ongoing work with partners to disrupt criminal networks operating in South Yorkshire.
Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Kilvinder Vigurs, said: “The Public Scrutiny Board is about giving our communities a real voice in policing. By shining a light on the areas people care about most, whether that’s how quickly calls are answered, how victims are supported or how we tackle serious and organised crime, we strengthen transparency and build trust.

“I encourage residents to attend, listen in and continue to help shape policing across South Yorkshire.”

As with all Public Scrutiny Board meetings, the session will be open to the public and live‑streamed via the SYMCA website, enabling residents to watch the discussion in full.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and submit questions in advance. Questions must be submitted in writing at least five working days before the meeting, be under 100 words and include your name and contact details. To register or submit a question, email PolicingAndReform@southyorkshire-ca.gov.uk.

Please note, we are unable to accept questions or comments about individual cases or incidents.
