How South Yorkshire will become the country's healthiest region
In South Yorkshire, we have unacceptable health inequalities. Too many people are living with long-term illness. Too many people are getting sick younger than they should. And too many children born in South Yorkshire today will live shorter, less healthy lives than children born just a few hundred miles away.
When he was elected, Mayor Oliver Coppard set up an independent panel, chaired by Professor Alan Walker CBE - Emeritus Professor of Social Policy & Social Gerontology and Co-Director of the Healthy Lifespan Institute at the University of Sheffield, to develop a blueprint to change this.
The Health Equity Panel has now published its report, and presented it to a meeting of the Integrated Care Partnership, chaired by Oliver Coppard.
