Several sectors of the economy have the potential to bring significant economic and social benefits to South Yorkshire.
The chart below shows which sectors have grown over the past five years. It shows growth in several sectors including; Information and Communication, Health, Real estate, Professional, scientific and technical and Transport & Storage jobs.
There have been employment declines in many sectors too but this does not mean there are fewer positions. Employment declines may be the result of less funding, more technological investment or jobs moving to other parts of the UK (or the world).
