Cranstoun has been awarded £298,447 in first year funding from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), Sheffield City Council, City of Doncaster Council, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to continue delivery of their Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Behaviour Change Programme, strengthening efforts to reduce domestic abuse and improve safety for communities across South Yorkshire.

Cranstoun provides services for adults and young people facing difficulties with alcohol and other drugs, domestic abuse, housing and criminal justice.

The programme will support individuals who have caused harm in their relationships to understand, address and change their behaviour. Through structured intervention, specialist guidance and close partnership working with local support services, the programme is designed to reduce repeat offending, prevent future harm and create safer environments for victims, children, and families.

The investment reflects SYMCA’s and Local Authorities ongoing commitment to tackling domestic abuse not only by supporting victims and survivors, but also by working with those who cause harm to break cycles of abuse at their root. This approach aligns with regional priorities to build safer, healthier communities and ensure accessible support for anyone affected by domestic abuse.

Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Kilvinder Vigurs said: “This funding represents an important step in strengthening our response to domestic abuse across South Yorkshire. By investing in behaviour change interventions for perpetrators, we are taking proactive action to reduce harm, protect families and support long term safety.

“Cranstoun brings significant expertise to this work and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this programme will have for people across our region.”

Cranstoun’s programme will offer a 24 week behavioural change course, alongside tailored support for partners and families through dedicated liaison roles. The service will also work closely with local organisations to ensure effective risk management and access to specialist support.

This investment will provide meaningful, early intervention for individuals at risk of causing further harm, while offering reassurance and strengthened safety for victims and survivors throughout South Yorkshire.

Wayne Grocott, Service Manager at Cranstoun added: “We welcome this investment, which will allow us to deliver meaningful, evidence based interventions that help people change harmful behaviours and build safer futures.

“Our focus is always on reducing risk and preventing further harm, and this funding enables us to support more individuals, partners and families across South Yorkshire. We are committed to working closely with local partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for the communities we serve.”

Alongside this investment, SYMCA also commissions services to support victims/survivors of all crimes ensuring that victims and survivors receive dedicated, specialist support. These services provide vital emotional, practical and safety focused assistance, helping people across South Yorkshire access the support and advocacy they need at every stage of their journey.
