SHEFFIELD PROPOSED BUS ROUTE CHANGES

What's changing in September 2027

  • North Sheffield
We’ll simplify the bus network in North Sheffield to make it easier to understand and easier to use. Some routes will be merged and straightened out so buses run more often on clearer, more direct routes, rather than several overlapping services running less frequently.
  • Royal Hallamshire Hospital
New direct bus links from eastern and southern Sheffield with a new hourly service.
  • More evening services: Two buses an hour in the evening after 6pm on the busiest routes and once an hour on all other routes.
  • Later last bus: Last buses from Sheffield city centre leaving after 11pm.

What's changing in 2029

  • Making it easier to change between bus and tram
Buses that run more often from Stocksbridge and Deepcar and connect with the Supertram at Hillsborough for onward journeys by tram.
  • More options on busy routes
  • The busiest routes (24/25, 52 and 120) running every 10 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays, helping services keep to time.
  • Sheffield Northern General Hospital
Better access to Sheffield Northern General Hospital, with a new direct bus from southern Sheffield and the city centre, running every 30 minutes
  • Easy to get to Meadowhall
More direct buses to Meadowhall, including new services from Stocksbridge, Deepcar, Chapeltown and northern Sheffield, running every 15 minutes.

Proposed changes to route 1

We are proposing to restructure route 424 to operate between Putney Heath (Wildcroft Road) and Upper Richmond Road (Putney High Street).

In addition, we are proposing to create a new route which would be numbered 454 to operate between Putney Bridge Station and Fulham (Stevenage Road/Fulham Football Club) which is adjacent to Cannons Leisure Centre, serving most of existing route 424’s alignment but with some changes.

The map below shows the proposed changes.

The route 1 changes can also be seen in this PDF (PDF xxMB)
