Multiply – Numeracy Skills for Life

MULTIPLY – NUMERACY SKILLS FOR LIFE

Multiply was a national programme that delivered £7.2 million investment by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority from the UK Government, focused on improving adult numeracy skills and confidence.

It was targeted at adults either not possessing or struggling with GCSE grade C/4 or higher in Maths and needed to improve their numeracy through free courses that were available across South Yorkshire, offering supportive approaches to learning numeracy and maths skills.

As part of the Government's Skills for Life initiative, the free courses and initiatives were designed to build confidence with numeracy at work and home and provide a range of skills from helping individuals understand their personal finances to supporting children with maths homework, and were available to local residents on either a part time or intensive, full-time basis.

The national programme and SYMCA regional offer ended in April 2025 and there is an evaluation being completed to help inform any future learning opportunities.
