If you live in Barnsley, there is help and support available both locally and nationally to help you cope with the rising cost of living.
There is information and resources available on the council website, including support for bills, food and housing.
You may be eligible for a household support grant, depending on your circumstance. Find out if you are by visiting their website.
You will also be receiving £400 off your energy bills from October onwards, provided by the government. The £400 will be paid in six instalments and will be automatically applied to your electricity bill as a discount. You don’t need to apply for this scheme and you won’t ever be asked for bank details.
If you use a prepayment meter for your energy supply, you will be given vouchers that you will need to redeem at a top-up point, for example at a Post Office branch.
